The Roses CD-ROM Technical Support Manual is
prepared in Acrobat Reader format. Adobe
Acrobat is available from Abobe on the World Wide Web.
One Macintosh requirement for using the ROSES CD-ROM Screen-Saver is that
the model be compatible with Quicktime. This includes the LC's, SE/30, all
Macintosh II models, the Performas, Quadras, PowerMacs and the Powerbooks.
In addition, a hard-disk drive, a CD-ROM, Apple System software version
7.0 or later, 4 MB RAM and Quicktime, version 1.5 or later are required.
Quicktime Version 2.1 is included on the ROSES CD-ROM for those without
Quicktime installed or for upgrading earlier versions.
Installation on the Macintosh is a straight-forward process that involves
10 basic steps.
1. Insert the ROSES CD-ROM and Double Click on the ROSES CD icon.
2. Install Quicktime if is it is not already present on the computer. If
not present open the Systems Accessories Folder on the CD-ROM and install
Quicktime 2.1
3. Drag the Silicon Televison Folder to your Hard Disk.
4. Drag "Silicon Television Movies" to the same Hard Disk as for
Silicon Television. Do not rename the Silicon Televison Movie folder and
do not place it within any other Folder.
5. Open the Silicon Televison Folder and double-click the Silicon Television
icon. You will be asked to register your copy. After registration, click
Continue...
6. Click the "Install" button.
7. Silicon Televison will confirm installation with a message window. Close
the window and continue.
8. Under the Silicon Television File Menu, select Silicon Television Settings
and then select the Video Player fader. This now activates your movie player
capabilities.
9. Adjust the Sound slider to a level most confortable for your environment.
10. Select Play from the File Menu to view the Quicktime movies.
Installation on a Windows based computer is also a straight-forward process
that involves a few basic steps.
1. Place the ROSES CD-ROM in your computer's CD-ROM drive.
2. To install the program, start Windows and from the File Manager run Setup
on the ROSES CD-ROM.
3. If Quicktime for Windows is not already present on your computer, also
run the Quicktime for Windows installation from the ROSES CD-ROM from the
File Manager.
4. Restart your computer for the installed programs to become active and
open Windows.
5. To activate Silicon Television, it is first necessary to create a play
list using the SILTV-Editor in the Silicon Television group located in Windows.
6. The creation of the play list follows a simple sequence that includes
locating the files on your CD-ROM drive by selecting the proper directory.
The movies for the play list are then selected and added to the play list
which is named and saved.
7. Select the play button to see your selection of Quicktime movies.
